Marie Therese Tong (Therese), PCC, is the Principal of Being & Becoming. She specializes in coaching senior executives and their teams executing in complex global markets to increase their leadership impact whilst finding greater satisfaction in their professional and personal lives. Therese is an executive coach, facilitator and strategist with 18 years of corporate experience including country, region and worldwide sales, marketing and strategic planning in the U.S. and Asia, where she worked with Fortune 500 companies Hewlett-Packard and IBM. In her role as Chief-of-Staff to the Senior Vice President of a US$17 billion business within a Fortune 500 company, Therese provided leadership in areas ranging from strategic development to operational excellence. She understands both the demands of an increasingly complex landscape and the expectations of top- and bottom-line growth prized by companies.Therese is experienced in facilitating large, global teams to bring about strategic change. She understands adult development and group, systemic factors affecting process and change. She worked on team and culture development initiatives to sustain and improve employee morale and customer satisfaction as organizations and teams underwent restructuring. She is skilled at visioning and implementing transformational change in a variety of business sectors, as well as education-focused and human services’ nonprofits.
In addition to her corporate experience, Therese worked with underserved global communities where she co-created and implemented new market models for economic, social and environmental sustainability. She developed an alliance framework and built partnerships with international and local NGOs and governments, including the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, Professor Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank; LINCOS program for sustainable development with the former President of Costa Rica, José María Figueres; and the Joko Clubs of Senegal founded by the world renowned musician, Youssou N’Dour to bridge the digital divide.
She mentors coaches-in-training and serves on coaching certification panels for NVW, evaluating trainees for final accreditation. Therese holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from the National University of Singapore and is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
